I liked the PDYM affinity group. Neely McQueen (great name) led things for us and initiated some good conversation. I met Josh Boehr, who’s a Buckeye fan living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. (WHAT?!?) After pushing my Penn State pride aside, I found out he was a pretty good dude. We talked at length about building leadership teams and what kinds of things we were expecting to get out of this weekend. I also talked to Neely for about PDYM and the possibility of becoming a state mentor (there’s none in Pennsylvania). Also, I talked to Jana Sarti for awhile. It took a few minutes to realize that she’s the Jana from the Simply Youth podcast. I picked her mind about how effective the translation of Saddleback methods to smaller ministries is. She also explained that Doug shaved to look younger, and I told her that I can’t shave the little that I have because it hides my second chin. All in all, I’m looking forward to meeting with those folks again next time.
