It is finished.
After a little over three months have passed by, we’ve officially finished writing our wedding thank you cards. Actually, it should be said that my wife had already finished writing her side of the thank you’s. I took a little more time, err, thinking of how to say thanks for celebrating our marriage.
Writing thank you cards is a chore for me. I can’t imagine that it’s not a chore for anybody- but it’s definitely something I am not want to do. Shouldn’t newlyweds get a free pass on this? I mean, it’s hard enough work to plan and execute a wedding, but when you factor in all of the stuff that follows after the ceremony (and I don’t just mean the wedding night!)…
Moving into a house.
Remodeling said house.
Honeymooning.
Adjusting to the habits of your new spouse.
“Married time.”
I feel like all of this should buy me a reprieve. Wasn’t the free meal, cake, dancing, etc thanks enough? Does it really matter to people that we send a card detailing no less than three different ways to say “Hey, thanks for coming!”
…
What’s that? I’m thanking people for buying us stuff and giving us money?
Well, why didn’t you say so!

I got a thank you card from you this week that says “I can’t wait for your wedding.” It made me laugh.
